Eagles Move to 4-0 with big weekend at UW
Eagles push unbeaten streak to 4 with win over Huskies
Mountlake Terrace, Wash. -- Eastern Washington University improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in PAC8 play with a second straight win over the Huskies on Saturday night on the road.
It was the visiting Eagles that got on the board first from the Olympic View Ice Arena thanks to the quick stick of Jason Shuck, who netted the first two goals of the contest. The Huskies would answer with less than 5 minutes remaining in the period to take a 2-1 scoreline into the first break.
The second period would see Matt Lucero score the first of his two goals for EWU before Connor Nehls would pot his second of the contest.
Matt Lucero would strike again just 14 seconds into the third period to take the team lead in goals and Freshman Mitch Hunt would earn his team leading 8th point with an empty netter to secure the 5-2 victory for the Eagles.
Making his second start of the year, senior netminder Tyler O'Donnell saved 16 of the 18 shots he faced, improving his season save percentage to an impressive .914. The Eagles went 7/8 on the penalty kill and 0/5 on the PP.
The EWU Eagles will return home to face the Oregon Ducks on October 5th and 6th at the EWU URC for their first ever PAC8 home games.
The EWU Eagles Hockey team is an ACHA D2 club program that plays in the PAC8 Conference. The team plays all home games at the EWU URC.
