Eags Wrap Up Butte-iful Weekend in Montana

Butte, Montana - Eagles gain early first period lead and complete the sweep over Montana Tech to keep them undefeated on the road.

Less than four minutes into the contest Mitch Hunt lit the lamp first for the Eagles, after receiving a pass from Matt Lucero and Greg Lind, he beat the Diggers goalie high glove sending his water bottle to the rafters. Montana Tech replied six minutes later with a goal from Brad Rutherford. With just under four minutes remaining, Matt Lucero tapped in a rebound, assisted by Mitch Hunt and Brandon Stevenson sending the Eags to the locker room with a 2-1 lead.

Eastern came out absolutely buzzing in the second period, peppering the net early. With a man advantage on the power play, Jason Shuck fed the puck to Mitch Hunt leading to a two on one, Hunt distributed the puck to Matt Lucero, who gave it right back to Hunt as he netted his second goal on the night. The Eagles would end the second period with a 3-1 lead over the Diggers.

The third period would entail shut down defense from Eastern Washington as they completed the game with a final score of 3-1.

Eastern's PK was solid again, going 9/9 and 1/5 on the PP. Austin Kirby blocked 43 of 44 shots leading to his 5th credited win of the season. The Eagles record is now 9-1 (4-1) after another big weekend on the road.
